3 Councilmembers Voted Illegally Wednesday Night! 2 Others Knew Better But Did Anyway!

Cleverly concealed in the Consent Agenda were two items which will directly influence the future economic well being of 3 City Councilmembers and their immediate families. The items were concealed as  CONSENT AGENDA items. There is no public discussion of items on the CONSENT AGENDA.  One of the items will impact a large EPA grant to SWIA and the other item will impact a $59.4 million dollar school board bond on the November ballot. Councilman Fred McLeans wife (Dee) as a member of the school board presents a conflict for Fred's vote.  Mayda Winter's full time employment at SWIA should have precluded her vote to support an official letter from the city to the EPA in support of a large Grant for SWIA. SWIA's founder, Patricia McCoy may not be a paid member of SWIA, but her husband Dr. Mike McCoy has and does get money from his position on the board of directors or executive director.

Dear SaveIB.com: New Letters

(Got something you want to get off your chest?  We won't print your name unless you want it printed.)

-------------

The attached email was sent to all all members of the council.
The outcome of the vote did not supprise me.
Last night is proof of what you have been saying about the council. They just do not care about what people think. They are in it for themselves. If there was nothing to hide, why did they do what they did? All I requested was a simple discussion on the subject.
In a phone conversation with Mayor Janney he said I would need to speak at the meeting as soon as it started in order to have the council discuss the issue. That is, if the council voted to have a discussion.( I was not able to attend at the start of the meeting). Then it would be moved to the last item on the agenda. From the start the council was going to make it as hard as possible for anyone to object in any way.
After I talked with him I just gave up. I am sorry to say that I did not even go to the meeting. What for? They already had their minds made up and they did not care in the least bit about another opinion.
The really sad part about this is, I always thought Jim was one of the good guys. I sure hope they have not got to him. He will go down with the rest when the axe falls. And if things keep going like they are, it is just a matter of time.
The council needs to learn that not everyone with an opinion different then theirs is wrong.
Since nobody on the council reads SaveIB.com I will send them all a copy of this letter.

Jim
For what it is worth, I do not agree with the council voting on anything that has to do with SWIA, including letters of support for SWIA to get another grant.
Will there be discussion at the meeting as to what the grant money will be used for? Is it just another study that has already been done?
Before the council votes on the subject are you going to disclose how much tax payer money SWIA is asking for? What will this do for the City of Imperial Beach? Will the city benifit in any way from the study?
Two members of the council, as you know, are way too close to SWIA. For the vote to have any credibility it should be a three person vote. I know that is not going to happen. (Prove me wrong, please).
I am not sure how many people write to you about agenda items, but I hope you give this some thought before you vote. Any reasonable person would have to agree, that in order for any improvement to be made in the local wetlands, Mexico must take the lead role and fix the problem on their side of the border. Until that happens we as taxpayers are being swindled by all the "studies(?)" SWIA is spending the grant money on.  Once again, how would a reasonable person vote on such a issue?
The taxpayers of this country did not cause the problem. Lets spend the money where it can do some good. SWIA'S web page brags that they have managed $30 million on the pristine piece on natural land. It is in worse shape today then it was when they started soliciting the government for grants.
What benifit do the taxpaying people of this country get from spending such large sums of money? An answer to at least one of the above questions would be appreciated.
I pray you give this subject some thought.

Dear Editor,

2.2 Council To Vote "Without Discussion" On SWIA Grant Application Letter Of Support!

Read Council Agenda:  You won't believe it!  And check out the chicken ordianace while your at it.

This item will not be discussed and will be voted on as part of the CONSENT AGENDA !

8.5 Shut Up ! Council Votes To Restrict Public Comments & Free Speech!

Dear SaveIB.com:
Sometimes I'm not sure if your joking or telling the truth. In a recent story called "Shut Up" I thought maybe you were writing some fiction, however after reading the Eagle & Times story...it appears that the Mayor, City Council and the City Attorney are in fact trying to limit or eliminate public comments (if they don't like them)  Who cares if the council approves of what speakers say? This is still a free country and any attempts to limit or gag the public from having fair input is an afront to our constitutional rights of free speech. Anyone on the council who supports limiting free speech or public comments should be re-called....and the City Attorney should be fired.....like yesterday!
There's a lot more truth to what you write on your website than people give you credit for. Thanks for trying to educate and entertain the public. Hope it gets some results, because the current state of City Council is unacceptable!

8.5 What The New Gag Ordiance Means? In-Depth Analysis & Discussion

Council Supports School Bond "X" -Without Discussion

The City's official support will be given to the school district without discussion on the CONSENT AGENDA.  Proposition "X" will give over $50 million dollars to one of the worst school districts in the State Of California. These people are incompetent to teach your children, much less manage the taxpayer's money. Councilman Fred McLean's wife sits on the School Board and has a stake in the bond measure being passed by the voters! She has also been a campaign treasurer for Patricia McCoy and Mayda Winter in the past.

Is it a conflict of interest for Fred McLean to vote on the consent agenda this week?

Hired gun professionals will rake in big commissions after influencing bond election process.

Why will the City Council vote without discussion on the CONSENT AGENDA , to support this ballot measure? Does Fred McLean's wife as a school board member mean that he has a conflict voting on this item? Do Mayda and Patricia have a conflict voting on the letter for SWIA's Grant Application. Maybe the reason it's on the consent agenda is because nobody will even know they voted on it if they don't discuss it publicly!

Will The Real Jim King........Please Stand Up!

.

Dear SaveIB.com:  I  think you have the wrong King on your web site....

Who Is Jim King? Why Is He Running For City Council? Is He ONE OF THEM" ?

Here's a little informative Google Search on Jim King that might answer all of those questions.

Informative visits to the critical sites in the watershed include unique riparian and marshland habitats, fertile river banks for agriculture, sand-extraction mines, dams, reservoirs, border crossings, aqueducts, and new developments.

Interviews and speeches with actual scientific advisors, politicans, activists, and neighbors are featured throughout the video, including the Mayor of Tecate, Juan Vargas; City Councilwoman of Imperial Beach, Patricia McCoy; project manager of the California Coastal Conservancy, Jim King; Coordinator of the Coastal Training Program, Oscar Romo; and members of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the City of Tijuana, and more.

Smuggler's Gulch Is History!

SAN DIEGO, California (AP) -- Scrapers and bulldozers began Friday filling a deep canyon to make way for a border fence in the southwestern corner of the United States after 12 years of planning, environmental reviews and legal challenges.
